Venue: Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre
Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Film & Media Studies (FMS) is proud to present Singapore Youth & Media Conference (SYMConference) 2010. With the theme of Sports and the Media, youths and industry players come together and exchange viewpoints during this conference.
2010 is a benchmark for sporting events in Singapore because she is hosting the 1st Youth Olympic Games. This prestigious event follows the Asian Youth Games 2009, also hosted by Singapore. Not only is Singapore becoming the focal point for youth sporting highlights such as these, the Media Development Authority (MDA) has also set aside SGD 1 million to develop sports content in the media.
SYMConference 2010 will provide a wonderful opportunity for youths, academicians and industry professionals to network, discuss, debate, and exchange viewpoints on issues concerning sports and the media. The Conference aims to give young people in Singapore an accessible and visible platform to air their views about pressing youth and media issues.
Organised by Media-Education Solutions (MEDUSA), a student-run organisation under FMS, and hosted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic, SYMConference is the only media-themed conference organised by youths for youths in Singapore.
During the Conference, we will explore the development of sports media in Singapore and how sporting news has crossed over from sports columns to mainstream news. Forums and breakout group discussions are also lined up to delve into research papers that will be presented during the Conference. We promise an exciting day filled with activities and discussions that will stimulate your minds!
